The Swedish Alliance for Middleware Infrastructure, SWAMI, is the organisation for middleware cooperation in the Swedish higher education community. It is financed by its members and by Sunet.

The goal of SWAMID is to build a sustainable organisational framework for, mutually beneficial, cooperation in matters relating to an infrastructure for authentication and authorization within the Swedish higher education community.

Interesting projects are taking place in SWAMI, including:

• Development of J2EE-based SAML registry application based on SAML 2.0 Meta Data
• Working to establish interest for SAML-based federations in other parts of Swedish society and government
• Integration of new services

The name of the swedish federation is SWAMID. It is currently not in production, but in testing (Dec 2006).
