After a few weeks of struggling, I managed to modify OTRS to use SAML
authentication/authorisation with eduGAIN attributes.

This version of OTRS uses modified simpleSAMLphp SP part as an
authentication module and requires simpleSAMLphp and OTRS to share some
session variables. It's not the prettiest solution and still needs a few
little modifications, but it works and it shouldn't be too difficult to
implement in federations that already have simpleSAMLphp running.
